Happy Easter from Colleyville!
Yesterday we had snow flurries on our bluebonnets and today it is trying to improve. We understand it will be more seasonal in a couple of days. Hooray!!

Lacey and Jacob both were acolytes at the late service today so afterwards we came home for a Mattson traditional Easter meal.
(We couldn't agree on what to call a big meal in the middle of the day.)

After lunch I asked the kids to give me 3 things that were brought to mind with Easter -
Brynne: 1) Buy one get one free at Macy's. 2) Mom this is so lame... 3) Only getting 1/3 of the box of peeps. (Guilty)
Lacey: 1) "Mom this is so dumb!" I refuse. 2) WHY?? 3) I DON'T WANT TO!!
Jacob: 1) Candy 2) Chocolate bunnies 3) an (empty) tomb
BINGO!!

I have seen many slick ads, catchy wording, hi-tech displays, internet videos galore, but my favorite this Easter was the ad in the paper this morning, paid for by Hobby Lobby.
It simply said:
He Lives!
He is not here.
HE has RISEN!
Just as he said...Matthew 28:6

Allow me to introduce you to Katie. She lives down the street and Jacob has wanted to go and visit her for YEARS! Today it was windy, cloudy and unseasonably cold, a perfect day for a mother/son walk to see the longhorn. HA!! Sometimes Katie hangs out by the street, but today she was in the back. We were told that if you call her and run your keys up and down the fence she would come. It worked!! The hysterical thing is that she takes her (long)horns and sways against the fence answering back your key noise with her version of horn noise. We knew it would be most polite to take her a treat as we visted, but what? Bread!! Ducks like it, surely longhorns do also. Yep, she gobbled it down with her big tongue and seemed rather sad when there was no more. Jacob vowed to visit her again on Easter. Wonder how she feels about marshmallow peeps?

So how are things you ask? A picture is worth a thousand words... About a week ago or more I thought I heard the sink running in the powder bath. The good news is my super keen sense of hearing was correct! The bad news was that the sink was turned off. There was water running allright, it was just 5 feet underneath the slab! Consequently this hole is being dug to find said leak and then the plumber can do his thing. Needless to say we are patiently (?) looking forward to that day when we do not have to sync all that needs to be done with hot water. We have the two hours in the AM to shower, do laundry, run the dishwasher etc. and then we repeat the process in the evening. It takes a bit of planning, but we are managing. Someday we will be darn appreciative of the work that was done and the ability to turn the hot water on any old time!
