I have just returned from Jacob's school where his class did a short play on Louis Pasteur and his creation of the first vaccine for rabies. These are the boys in Jacob's class, minus one. (Which allowed for Jacob to receive an extra line or two from the absent MD.) I tried to get a photo of the good doctor reciting his lines, and I tried to get a good picture of the class. Neither photo was blog worthy so instead we share the "ham it up" photo post performance.

The swim season keeps on keepin' on! A week ago today Lacey had the district swim meet. There were 8 teams competing from our district. It was a notable experience for our freshman swimmer. She dropped nearly 5 seconds in her 200 free. (Which doesn't sound like much but in the water events are won and lost by fractions of a second.) She dropped time in her 100 fly and that earned her an 8th place ribbon. It is worth pointing out that in high school swimming you do not compete by age, you compete against teams which means in your heat you have 9th-12th graders on the blocks. Finally she was on a 200 free relay team with another freshman and two juniors. They swam their way to a 4th place finish - narrowly missing 3rd by one second. The exciting part of this is that they are now qualified for the regional meet in Dallas on Friday. (Top 6 in each event continue on.) Lacey finds this all to be rather grand, she gets to miss the school day on Friday. She will find herself with the afternoon free so we will be using that time to dress hunt in Dallas for the swim banquet in March. She has been window shopping online for weeks!

Brrr...we are in the midst of a cold snap. There is not accumulation per se, but it is mighty chilly and we have seen a good bit of rain. That translates to some ice, droopy trees, dogs in the garage, and a general Texas freakout as we collectively try and decide how much of a disruption it will wreak on our daily life. I won't begin to explain it as we would be mocked terribly by those of you who are still encountering this in your home state through April - ha!

According to dictionary.com -
cha*os - noun 1) A state of utter disorder or confusion. Not according to dictionary.com I give you a second definition.
noun 2) A basketball team of 10U boys coached by Gregg.
Hopefully they will be more easily identified by definition two then definition one!! It is a new year and time for a new team (plus the old team)! Gregg and Jacob are keeping their basketball momentum going by participating on two teams, both coached by Gregg. It has been an awesome opportunity for quality father/son time.

Happy New Year from Colleyville!
The New Year rolled in with Brynne at a friend's home, Lacey here with a group of swim friends and Jacob here with a couple of buddies. It was good, but uneventful as far as late nights go. We are wrapping up the school break.
Jacob heads back on Wednesday and the girls on Thursday.
